Course Description: This 40-hour class is designed to provide law enforcement with an in-depth understanding of today's most useful and effective flasher boxes and bootloader utilities to unlock and acquire mobile device memory. Applicable to high-end Android devices; low-end devices from manufacturers such BLU; and others that use low-cost MediaTek and Chinese Chipsets, such tools and techniques will enable examiners to expand their options when addressing such devices. In the Flasher Box portion of class, the student will gain an overview of today's best Flasher Box tools for the lower-cost devices, and install and use them to image such devices. In the Bootloader portion of class, the student will learn how bootloaders are applied to access device partitions for unlock and bypass lock purposes. Lessons in using Android Debug Bridge (ADB) commands, identifying if a phone has a Factory Reset Protection (FRP) lock and to bypass it, use the Clockworkmod (CWD) and Team win recovery project (TWRP) to unlock a device, access memory and image the device Students will perform a variety of practical exercises using various equipment, including the Octoplus Box. Due to often challenging installation procedures of the various boxes used in the class, It is strongly suggested that students bring their own laptops. Laptop Requirements: Windows 10 macOS with Bootcamp Windows 10 macOS alone will not work (No Virtual Machines) 8GB RAM (minimum) 100 GB Storage (minimum) You must have admin rights or have the admin password for software installation.
